Woods and Finishes for Solid Wood Furniture
The majority of our Amish handcrafted furniture is built from premium Red Oak; however, our crafters can also build your furniture from Solid Cherry, Maple, Quarter Sawn White Oak, Walnut or Hickory.
A variety of finish colors are available to compliment your hand built furniture. If you want to match existing furniture in a room, stain matches are available.
After the finish color is applied each piece of your Amish crafted furniture is treated with Resistovar®. Unlike regular varnishes, Resistovar®is a catalyzed varnish. That means it is harder than most finishes and protects the wood better than the rest. Instead of just protecting the top layer of the wood, Resistovar® penetrates into the wood giving it deep protection. It resists water, alcohol, heat, and fingernail polish remover. That means if you decide to sit at your table for a nice leisurely dinner and you forget that glass of water on the table you don't have to worry about waking up the next day and finding a white ring where your glass was. It also means that after any meal or before you have guests instead of having to polish your table you can use a soft cloth with mild detergent to clean your table quickly and easily.
